Viridian Wildwood is one of the more interesting farming systems in Path of Exile 2 0.5.5. It adds a timed Wisp-collection phase to your normal Atlas map, then uses those Wisps to empower monsters and improve the value of the map.
The system looks complicated at first, but the basic loop is easy: use a Sacred Bloom, enter the Wildwood, collect Wisps quickly, then return and clear the empowered map.
How Sacred Bloom Works
Sacred Bloom is used on an Atlas map to add Viridian Wildwood to the area. Because the Bloom is a map investment, do not waste it on layouts your character dislikes.
Choose maps with good movement flow, strong monster density, and a boss you can kill without slowing down. Your goal is not simply to make the map harder. You want the extra investment to produce more useful rewards without destroying your clear speed.
Wisp Priority
There are three main Wisp types, and each one affects monsters differently.

The biggest beginner mistake is spending too much time killing monsters inside the Wildwood.
The Wildwood phase is mainly about movement and collection. Follow the Wisp trails, cover as much territory as possible, and avoid unnecessary fights. The real payoff comes after you return to the map and kill the empowered monsters.
If two paths are available, choose the one that keeps you moving rather than stopping for every pack.
Best Maps for Wildwood
There is no universal best map. Your ideal choice depends on your build, but open layouts are generally easier because they let you move quickly through the Wildwood and clear empowered monsters efficiently afterward.
Good maps usually have:
- Open or easy-to-follow layouts
- High monster density
- Few dead ends
- A manageable boss
- Atlas investment that supports your farming goal
Do not automatically use your highest-tier map. A slightly easier map that you clear quickly can be more profitable over an entire farming session.
Combine Wildwood With Ritual
Ritual and Wildwood work particularly well together. Ritual Tablets can increase the number of Altars available and improve the amount of Wisps collected in the Wildwood.
This creates a useful farming sequence:
Ritual preparation → Sacred Bloom → Wildwood → empowered map → Ritual and map rewards.
If you are already farming POE 2 Currency, this combination can make each map investment more efficient.
How Much Investment Should You Use?
Start small. Use one Sacred Bloom on a familiar map and see how your character handles the empowered monsters.
If the map remains comfortable, gradually add more investment. Do not immediately stack every possible modifier. More Wisps mean stronger enemies, and excessive difficulty can destroy your clear speed.
The same rule applies when deciding whether to spend POE 2 Exalted Orbs on map preparation. If the investment makes your character too slow or unsafe, it is probably not worth it.
Simple Wildwood Farming Strategy
For beginners, prioritize Wild Wisps, learn the Wildwood routes, and focus on movement rather than combat. Once your build becomes stronger, add Primal and Vivid Wisps to increase monster density and Rare monster rewards.
The best Wildwood setup is not necessarily the most heavily juiced one. It is the setup where your character can consistently turn extra monster difficulty into fast kills and valuable loot.
Treat Sacred Bloom as a controlled investment, keep your routes efficient, and let Wildwood become part of your normal Atlas farming loop rather than a separate activity.
